One man was taken to hospital and another arrested following a stabbing at Vancouver’s Sunset Beach on Wednesday.
Vancouver police said they arrived at the beach at 4:15 p.m. following reports of a stabbing.
The suspect was allegedly skateboarding on the walking path of the Seawall when he collided with a jogger, who was uninjured, got up and continued running, police said.
The suspect argued with a man and woman, who suggested he use a different part of the path to skateboard. The suspect then stabbed a 33-year-old man who tried to intervene.
Police said the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries despite being stabbed multiple times.
Officers arrested the suspect a short distance away. Karmpal Singh Brar has since been charged with one count each of assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.
“Through the help of some great witnesses, officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect shortly after the stabbing occurred,” VPD Const. Tania Visintin said.
Police say they have recommended charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
The suspect remains in custody.
