Canada election results: Montcalm

Bloc Québécois candidate Luc Thériault is the projected winner in the riding of Montcalm.

The riding is located north of Montreal. It includes the entire Regional County Municipality of Montcalm and the city of Mascouche.

Close to 3.5 per cent of this riding’s population consists of immigrants. Common origin countries include Haiti, France and Italy.

Luc Thériault of the Bloc Québécois was re-elected in Montcalm in 2019, beating Liberal Isabel Sayegh by 37.6 percentage points. Thériault has had control over the seat since 2015.

Montcalm is situated in the northeast region of Montreal. Since the re-creation of the district in 2003, only the Bloc Québécois and the NDP have been in power.

BQ candidate Roger Gaudet had held this seat for the BQ from 2004 until his defeat in 2011 during the orange wave.
