Liberal candidate Joël Lightbound is the projected winner in the riding of Louis-Hébert.
This is one of six Quebec city ridings that consists of the southern part of the city called the borough Sainte-Foy–Sillery–Cap-Rouge.
Nearly 10 per cent of the population in this riding consists of immigrants from Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. Arabic and Spanish are the most common non-official mother tongues in this region.
Louis-Hébert is home to the Quebec Aquarium, the Jacques-Cartier Beach, and the Base de Plein-Air de Sainte-Foy.
Voters in Louis-Hébert re-elected Liberal incumbent Joël Lightbound in the 2019 election. This was a breakthrough for a riding that hadn’t elected a consistent party since 2000. The NDP, Conservatives, Bloc Québécois, and Liberals have all had turns representing this riding since the turn of the century.
Lightbound won 40.5 per cent of the vote, with BQ candidate Christian Hébert coming in second place with 28 per cent. The Conservatives and NDP trailed in second and fourth place.
