Soraya Martinez Ferrada for the Liberals is the projected winner for the riding of Hochelaga.
The riding of Hochelaga is located in Montreal, and includes the area surrounding Olympic Park.
Liberal Soraya Martinez Ferrada was elected MP in 2019. She is the parliamentary secretary to Canada’s transport minister.
The Bloc Québécois asked for a recount after Martinez narrowly won the riding with just over 300 votes more than BQ candidate Simon Marchand. From 2004 to 2011, the Bloc held the seat. The NDP’s Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet won in 2011 and 2015. She did not seek re-election in 2019.
According to the 2016 census, 18.1 per cent of the riding’s recent immigrants are from Algeria.
