Demolition begins to make way for new stadium

REGINA – It’s official – visible work has begun on the future home for Regina’s new stadium.

On Thursday crews started demolishing the Heritage Building on Evraz grounds to make room for the project.

“As part of the demolition work we are also taking down the Saskatchewan building, the Jubilee building and storage sheds,” said acting Manager of Engineering for the city Jeffrey Holland.

The city anticipates that the demolition of the buildings on the site should be completed by this winter.

Construction on the site should begin in early 2014.
