RCMP say death of Calgary woman near Bragg Creek not suspicious

Cochrane RCMP say the death of a woman whose body was found near Bragg Creek on Sunday is not considered suspicious.

Officers were called to the entrance of a piece of rural property on Township Road 232 on Sunday afternoon and remained at the scene into the evening.

Members of the RCMP’s major crimes unit were also on scene.

In a Monday news release, RCMP said one person was found dead but that their initial investigation has “determined the death as non-suspicious.”

“The person has been identified and officers continue to contact next of kin,” RCMP added.

On Wednesday, Dec. 9, RCMP revealed the victim was a 40-year-old Calgary woman.

“A thorough investigation is currently ongoing to determine the female’s whereabouts prior to arriving at a rural property,” a news release stated.

Investigators are asking for anyone who may have information on the death or dash cam footage showing a woman on Township Road 232 between Range Road 54 and Braken Road between midnight and 3 p.m. on Dec. 6  to call Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
