The YMCA-YWCA of Guelph says a clerical error is to blame after the Ontario government linked two confirmed COVID-19 cases with one of its after-school programs.
The YMCA-YWCA of Guelph and its before and after school program at Guelph Lake Public School was added to a government list of child care centres with active cases on Wednesday.
The list says there are two children at the childcare centre who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
But a spokesperson for the Guelph Y said there are no confirmed cases at any of its child care programs.
“We’re working closely with our community partners at the Ministry of Education and Public Health to get this fixed promptly,” Victoria Ford said in an email.
Global News has reached out to the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health and the school board for comment.
Guelph reported its 300th case of the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, which includes 31 active cases in the city.
More to come.
