Charges laid in fatal motorcycle crash in Kitchener: police

Waterloo Regional Police say a 35-year-old man is facing charges in connection to a fatal motorcycle crash in Kitchener Monday evening.

A police spokesperson told Global News emergency crews were called to Huron Road, near Manitou Drive and Homer Watson Boulevard, at around 6:10 p.m. after a motorcycle crashed.

Police say the Kitchener man driving and his 31-year-old male passenger were headed eastbound on Huron Road on a Yamaha bike at a high rate of speed when it struck the curb, launching both men from the vehicle.

The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

On Tuesday morning, police announced that the driver was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
