TORONTO – Superstar Jennifer Lopez has confessed she once had no place to live.
“I was homeless,” the 43-year-old singer-actress told W magazine.
Lopez said she moved out of her family’s Bronx home when she was 18 because she wanted to be a dancer.
“My mom and I butted heads,” she recalled. “I didn’t want to go to college – I wanted to try dance full-time. So she and I had a break. I started sleeping on the sofa in the dance studio.”

Lopez said after a few months on her own she got a dance job in Europe and, upon her return, was hired as a Fly Girl on the TV series In Living Colour.
“It all happened in a year,” she told W.
Lopez grew up in a modest home with her parents David and Guadalupe and sisters Leslie and Lynda. Although she recently went to see the house, the star refused to knock on the door.
“I don’t want to go inside,” Lopez said. “The last time I was in there was when my mom and dad called us home to tell us that they were separating after 33 years of marriage.”
