Police said the victim responded to a break-and-enter alarm at his business around 3 a.m. He stayed in the parking lot until 6 a.m., waiting for the business to be secured, when at least three people approached him, according to police.

Officers believe three suspects attempted to get inside an adjoining cannabis store through the victim’s business in the 3800 block of Bow Trail S.W.

“During the encounter, the victim suffered fatal injuries,” police said in a news release.

He was able to walk to a nearby business where emergency crews were called, police said.

After 6:15 a.m., police found the victim in medical distress and he died at the scene.

A large area was cordoned off as officers searched for evidence connected to the incident, police said.

Police are asking business owners and residents in the area to come forward if they have any CCTV footage or other information that may help officers in the case.
