Kelowna RCMP say they received a report of a bank robbery in progress just before 1 p.m., with all available resources immediately flooding the area in response.

Police say the suspect entered the TD Canada Trust branch on Ellis Street, where he demanded cash, then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The search included police dog services and a helicopter.

“After a coordinated search, officers located the suspect a short time later in the area of Pandosy Street and Leon Avenue,” said Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy. “He was arrested without further incident.”

On Thursday, police say the suspect, a 48-year-old Kelowna man, is facing potential charges and remains in police custody at this time.
