The Liberal Party’s media bus struck its campaign plane Wednesday night, leaving visible damage on the plane’s wing.

The plane has been grounded in Victoria, B.C., as a result of the damage.

The party tells Global News it has secured an alternate plane to transport Liberal Party Leader Justin Trudeau, his team and some journalists to planned campaign stops on Thursday.

Global News’ Ottawa bureau chief Mercedes Stephenson was on the bus as it went underneath the plane’s wing, slowly scraping the entire length of the bus.

Trudeau was in Vancouver for the first rally of the Liberal campaign. He is expected to make stops on Thursday in Kamloops, B.C., and Edmonton, Alta.

Earlier, Liberal Party campaign spokesperson Zita Astravas said there would be no changes or delays to Trudeau’s schedule Thursday as a result of the incident.

Astravas said officials would be “taking a look” at the plane Thursday morning. No one was injured, she said.

When asked whether any sort of investigation will be conducted into how or why the collision occurred, Astravas said: “Our focus is staying on schedule.”
