One person died Sunday morning after a collision involving a train in south Edmonton.
Police said the pedestrian was hit by a train near 34 Avenue and Gateway Boulevard at about 3:45 a.m.

A 19-year-old man was reportedly walking south along the railway tracks just north of 34 Avenue when he was struck by a southbound freight train, police said.
The victim died at the scene.
34 Avenue was closed in both directions east of Gateway for several hours as policed investigated the fatal collision.
The road re-opened later Sunday morning.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
Edmonton police and Canadian Pacific Railway are investigating the fatal collision.
