EDMONTON – Mounties and CN police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in Spruce Grove Monday night.
RCMP said the collision occurred between Range Road 272 and Highway 16A at around 5:45 p.m.
They said there were no train signals in the area and that they’re still investigating to see if the conductor saw the pedestrian or was able to warn the person the train was coming.
Mounties are also investigating whether or not the pedestrian was distracted at the time or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Police said the victim was a male but it is unclear how old he was.
They also said they believe he was walking along the railroad tracks when he was hit.
