Halton police officer discharges weapon during interaction with robbery suspects

Halton Regional Police say one of their officers fired his weapon during a life-threatening encounter with multiple robbery suspects on Friday.

The lone officer was doing a routine check when he happened upon a robbery at a Telus Mobility store at 2501 Third Line in Oakville.  It’s alleged the suspects drove their vehicle towards the officer colliding with his car. According to police  that’s when the officer discharged his firearm.

One person was arrested at the scene  but was later released, while two other suspects fled on foot.

31 year-old Jonathan Marucio of Mississauga was later arrested in Peel and has been implicated in a series of six break and enters, four of which happened  in Burlington and Oakville within minutes of each early Friday morning.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating Jesse Rigo of Mississauga another suspect involved in the Oakville robbery.
