South Simcoe officers are investigating a suspicious fire that occurred at the Stacked Pancake House in Stroud, which they responded to early morning Monday around 12 a.m.
Police say there were no injuries and that the Innisfil Fire and Rescue Service put out the alleged structural blaze at Yonge Street and Victoria Street.
“Whoever committed this act needs to recognize the broader implications of their actions. A number of employees are now without work because the restaurant is closed and will have a longer term impact on their families. We urge the person or persons responsible to come forward so that we can move forward with this investigation,” South Simcoe police chief Andrew Fletcher said in a press release.
The Office of the Fire Marshal attended the scene on Monday and is working with South Simcoe officers, police say.
People who may have witnessed activity in the area or have video of the incident, including dash cam footage, can contact detectives, South Simcoe officers say, adding that anyone with any information can contact Detective Constable Ian Fenik at 705-436-2141 or Crime Stoppers.
