Homicide investigators have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Surrey overnight.

Police say 30-year-old Amrendra Vijay Kumar was pronounced dead at the scene.

A large section of the Newton Park One town home complex at 139 Street and 72 Avenue was taped off into Wednesday as as officials probed the shooting.

Police say multiple 911 calls came in just before midnight, with reports that gunshots were heard.

Investigators said about 40 minutes after the shooting, police received a call about a car fire near 164 Street and 92 Avenue.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) believes the two incidents are related.

No word yet if this is gang-related but members of Surrey’s Gang Enforcement Unit were on scene.

IHIT and RCMP are asking anyone with information of dash cam footage to contact them.
