York Regional Police Const. Andy Pattenden told reporters Wanzhen Lu walked up to a home on Doe Lake Road before 9 p.m. on Tuesday to ask for help.

“He knocked on the door of the residence and a homeowner found him there and called police right away,” Pattenden said.

He said Lu was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

“We found Mr. Lu in good health, that was our number one priority,” Pattenden said.

Authorities said Lu was kidnapped on Saturday at around 6 p.m. in an underground condominium parking garage located at 15 Water Walk Dr. near Highway 7 and Birchmount Road.

Police said the victim was walking with a female friend when three men, one of whom was armed with a conductive energy weapon, exited a black Dodge Caravan and grabbed him.

Surveillance video from the building captured Lu being shocked multiple times with the stun gun and then forced into the van.

On Monday, police said the van used in the incident was located in Toronto on Sunday night.

Pattenden said the search for the three men plus the driver is continuing.

“It’s been a huge amount of resources that we’ve put into this ongoing investigation, but it’s far from over,” he said.

“We’re very concerned they’re still out there … we’re going to continue with this until those four suspects are found and brought into custody.”

Meanwhile, Pattenden said a man taken into custody Tuesday morning was released unconditionally without charges being laid.
