Four inmates at Stony Mountain Institution have been arrested for second-degree murder in an incident that took place in August.
On the evening of Aug. 16, 2018, Stonewall RCMP responded to a serious assault on an inmate, who was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The inmate, Adam Kent Monias, 25, from Norway House, died of his injuries two days later.
On March 12 and 13 of this year, RCMP arrested and charged the four inmates with second-degree murder in connection with Monias’ death.
Winnipeggers Kane Moar, 21, and Raymond McDonald, 24, have been charged, along with 24-year-old Braiden Moneyas of Brandon, and Michael Oskasikewiyin, 25, of Saskatoon.
Moar made the news earlier this year when he evaded police after being accused of a January murder at a home on McGee Street in Winnipeg.
All four accused remain in custody at Stony Mountain and will appear in provincial court in Winnipeg on Wednesday.
Stonewall RCMP, along with the RCMP’s Major Crime Services, continue to investigate.
