Five people were transported to hospital following a head-on crash northeast of Toronto.
Emergency crews responded to a call just before 6 a.m. Wednesday at Steeles Avenue East and Sewells Road.
Toronto police said a silver Nissan Murano was traveling westbound on Steeles when it struck a gold Honda CRV headed eastbound.
Police said the female driver of the Honda had to be extricated from her vehicle and she was airlifted to a trauma centre for treatment.
Authorities said there were four occupants in the Nissan. The 52-year-old male driver suffered a broken leg and the other three people in the vehicle suffered superficial injuries.
There’s no word yet on the cause of the collision.

Steeles Avenue was closed to traffic in the area for the investigation but reopened just before noon on Wednesday.
