Ontario’s police watchdog, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), has terminated its investigation into the arrest of a man in Collingwood.

The SIU says on Jan. 30 at around 2 p.m., officers attended a residence in Collingwood to arrest a 36-year-old man on an outstanding warrant.

Investigators say the police knocked on the door and identified themselves.

The SIU says in order to evade the officers, the man jumped out of a window on the second floor.

The SIU had been conducting an investigation into the incident, which has now been terminated.

“The man caused his own injury when he jumped out of the second storey window, and the injury had nothing to do with any act or omission on the part of the police,” SIU director, Tony Loparco, said in a news release. “As such, I have terminated the investigation into this incident.
