Three men arrested for second-degree murder in Christmas Day slaying

Three men have been charged with second-degree murder for a Christmas Day homicide in Winnipeg’s West End.

On the morning of Dec. 25, 2018, emergency crews responded to the report of an injured man in the 400 block of Victor Street.

They found Tyler Evan Smoke, 26, suffering from upper body injuries. He later died in hospital.

Police said they discovered that Smoke had been robbed and attacked by several people.

Homicide investigators arrested two men Wednesday, with a third being picked up on Thursday.

The three suspects – David Joseph Merasty, 25; Keenan Alexander Tom, 25; and Michael Anthony Caribou, 28, are all in custody facing second-degree murder charges.
