Saskatoon Blades clinch playoff birth with 4-3 shootout win over Kootenay Ice

WATCH: The Saskatoon Blades have clinched a playoff spot with a 4-3 shootout win over the Kootenay Ice in WHL action Saturday night.

The Saskatoon Blades (38-13-8) outlasted the Kootenay Ice (11-38-10) Saturday night, beating them 4-3 in a shootout in Western Hockey League (WHL) action.

Kristian Roykas Marthinsen, Gary Haden and Reece Harsch scored in regulation for the Blades.

Jaeger White, Brad Ginnell and Jakin Smallwood found the back of the net for the Ice.

Kyle Crnkovic had the only goal in the shootout.

Blades goalie Dorrin Luding stopped 34-of-37 of the shots he faced, while Jesse Makaj stopped 38-of-41 for the Ice.

Neither team scored on the powerplay.

The Blades are back at it Tuesday when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Game time is 7 p.m.
