Officers responded to a call at 6:50 a.m. in the area of Lake Shore Boulevard and Silver Moon Drive, just west of Park Lawn Road.

Investigators said a woman was found without any vital signs when police arrived on the scene. She was rushed to hospital for treatment.

According to reports, police said the shooting took place inside a parking garage and numerous people were seen running away from the area at the time.

One resident said he heard about seven to eight gunshots fired rapidly, almost sounding like firecrackers.

“It’s a nice building,” said Matt Homer. “We live here because we wouldn’t think anything like this would ever happen.”

Samantha Price, another resident who lived on the 36th floor of one of the buildings said she was woken up by the gunfire. She said she heard five shots fired first, then a pause, and then another three, totalling to about eight shots.

“I could see from my window the white car that was in the garage there, and it looked like it was kinda smashed,” Price said.

“I could see the police try to do CPR and then the ambulance carried [the victim] away.”

The investigation is ongoing and there is currently no information on suspects.
