The team will head to British Columbia this weekend for a pair of games against the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack, who are also 9-9.

“I think the matches amp-up a little bit at the end of the season. I guess that happens in this year when you leave a few on the table and then at the end of the year they seem more important,” Huskies head coach Nathan Bennett said.

“But every match is just as important as the first one of the year so, but yeah, I’m looking forward to the playoff run here.”

Bennett, who’s in his first year with Saskatchewan, was at Thompson Rivers University in both the men’s and women’s programs as an assistant, so if anyone knows the Wolfpack, it would be him.

“Their offence is quite good. And if we keep them off balance, that’s going to be the key too, they have some big weapons over there, but keeping them off balance from the service line is going to be big,” Bennett said.

The Huskies have only one fifth-year player, and that’s Colin Fraser. He wants his final year to be one that returns the U Sports team to the post-season for the first time since the 2015-16 season.

“If you make it to the playoffs, anything can happen so it’s really important to make it there and then hopefully make some noise once you’re there,” Fraser said.

Saskatchewan finishes the regular season at home, next weekend versus the Mount Royal Cougars (13-5).
