Toronto police said the collision happened around 3 a.m. at Meadowvale Road and Generation Boulevard.

Police said a dark-coloured BMW was traveling southbound on Meadowvale when it collided with a dark-coloured mini-van traveling eastbound on Dean Park Road.

Authorities said the 40-year-old male driver of the mini-van was pronounced dead at the scene. A 39-year-old female passenger in the mini-van was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
