New Netflix series ‘The Umbrella Academy’ has Hamilton connection

The first official trailer has been released for The Umbrella Academy and the Netflix series has a very local connection.

Not only was part of the show filmed in Hamilton last year, but it also stars a local teenager.

TJ McGibbon, 13, appears in The Umbrella Academy as a Young Vanya, whose older character is played by fellow Canadian actress Ellen Page.

The TV series is an adaptation of a set of Dark Horse Comics graphic novels by My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way.

It follows a group of adopted, super-powered misfits who are raised by an eccentric millionaire to become a team of superheroes.

The Umbrella Academy launches globally on Netflix February 15, 2019.
