Ryerson University student fatally shot outside of north-end Toronto home

A 26-year-old Ryerson University student has died after a shooting outside of a Downsview home Thursday afternoon.

Toronto police said they responded to reports of gunshots being fired near Dalraith Road and Camborne Avenue, near Keele Street and Wilson Avenue, just after 2 p.m.

A spokesperson said witnesses reported hearing several gunshots.

Toronto paramedics said they found a male with no vital signs and gunshot wounds to his upper body. Officials said the victim died at the scene.

Friends identified the victim as Roy Zamora.

Coun. Maria Augimeri told reporters he turned 26 year old last week.

“He’s a really good student. He came home from school and they were waiting for him,” she said.

The homicide squad was called in to take over the investigation.

Police said officers are searching for two male suspects who were seen leaving the area in a grey van going eastbound.

The shooting marks Toronto’s 85th homicide.
