Ottawa police have confirmed that the CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Explosives) unit was called to a post office in Orléans on Friday morning.

Police say they received a call at 9:06 a.m. in relation to a suspicious package at the Canada Post office at 230 Vanguard Dr. in the east-end suburb.

Police say the suspicious package did not present any safety threat and has been deemed safe.

The CBRNE unit in Ottawa is a joint force between the Ottawa police and the RCMP. According to the Ottawa police website, the “highly-trained members from both police services work and deploy as one team to respond to various incidents ranging from suspicious packages and recovered explosives, to bomb threats and homemade explosive laboratories.”
