Two luxury sports cars were impounded Thursday morning after speeding on Lougheed Highway between Maple Ridge and Mission.
Sgt. Amanda Harnett with Ridge Meadows RCMP said the drivers of a Lamborghini and a McLaren were going 50 kilometres over the posted speed limit.
Both of them are 22 years old, and one of them is still a ‘N’ driver.
Harnett said she’s already seen too many excessive speeders this year.
“472 drivers for excessive speed so far in 2018. 178 of those have happened in that particular stretch of Lougheed Highway.”
“There really doesn’t seem to any significant changes in people’s driving behaviour in that particular stretch,” she said. “This has been an area where there has been far too many tragic outcomes where they’re directly related simply to people speeding.”
It’s a big increase even compared to last year, when there were just 523 for all of 2017.
Both drivers have also been fined.
