The police department in Bridgewater, N.S., says it is “extremely concerned” after arresting a man who attended the local exhibition while allegedly intoxicated, bringing a knife and loaded gun with him.
The Bridgewater Police Service says that its officers were conducting a foot patrol at the South Shore Exhibition grounds when, on Sunday at 12:36 a.m., they were notified of an intoxicated man who was allegedly in possession of a gun on the exhibition grounds.

Multiple officers responded to the report, with police immediately locating the man. The man was arrested without incident.
As officers searched the man, police located a loaded .22 calibre handgun as well as a knife concealed in his pants.
Matthew Jordan Corkum, 26, of Oakhill, N.S., has since been charged with carrying a prohibited weapon in a careless manner, carrying a weapon dangerous to the public peace, carrying a weapon while attending a public meeting, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon while prohibited from doing so and possession of a firearm and a prohibited weapon while not holding a license.

Corkum was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court at the Bridgewater Justice Centre on Monday at 9:30 a.m., for a bail hearing.
