Those in the Innisfil, Springwater Township and Bradford West Gwillimbury areas looking to enjoy a campfire this weekend can do so, as the fire ban has officially been lifted.

All open-air fires and fireworks were prohibited last week after an extended period of hot and dry weather forced several municipalities to enforce the ban.According to officials at the Town of Innisfil, the significant amount of rainfall the region has received in the last few days has allowed for the ban to be lifted. However, although the total fire ban has been lifted, the fire danger rating in several areas remains high.Officials are reminding residents that anyone looking to have a fire must acquire the appropriate permit to do so.

According to a tweet sent out by the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, the ban may be reinstated if the area experiences another stretch of dry weather. Residents should check with their municipalities before starting a fire and should remain updated regarding the current fire danger rating in their area.
