A company planning to launch an inflatable water park at the Cobourg beach this summer will now launch next summer.
On Monday, At The Lake Distributing and the Town of Cobourg announced the water park which was set to open this summer has been postponed. At The Lake Distributing was working with Summer Water Sports to launch the park after receiving municipal approval earlier this year.
In a release, the companies and the town said a lack of lifeguards required to safely operate the waterpark “could not be procured.”
“This is very disappointing for all parties involved, as the addition of the water park to Cobourg Beach was intended to add an exciting feature for the thousands of local and visiting guests to the beach each summer,” the companies stated.

“We would like to commend The Town of Cobourg for their commitment to the water park and the work invested in moving the project to this point.”
The company is now aiming for a June 2019 opening and will begin the hiring process for lifeguards later this year.
“We look forward to working with the staff at The Town of Cobourg to bring this water park project to fruition,” the companies stated.
