Bradford man facing charges after police received report of ‘prowler’ in neighbourhood

A 20-year-old man from Bradford is facing charges after police received a call from a citizen reporting a “prowler” in his neighbourhood.

According to South Simcoe police, on Wednesday, July 11 at around 1 a.m., officers responded to a report of a man loitering around cars and entering backyards in the Maplegrove Avenue and Fred Cook Drive area in Bradford.

When police arrived on scene, an officer began checking the area and noticed a pickup truck that appeared to have been entered, and a door had been left open.

Police say a second officer saw a number of motion-activated lights on in several backyards.

According to police, officers located a man matching the caller’s description walking along Collings Avenue near Fuller Heights Park.

Police say the officers smelled alcohol and arrested the man for being intoxicated in a public place. Officers subsequently took the man to the South Division.

After further investigation, police charged the man with trespassing at night.

According to police, the man was eventually released from custody with a future court date.
