An Oshawa mother and her boyfriend have been charged in connection with the death of an eight-month-old baby two years ago.
Durham Regional Police said they responded to an unknown trouble call around 8:10 p.m. on Dec. 29, 2016, at an apartment on Robson Street in Oshawa.
Police said officers arrived and located an infant boy who was not responsive. Despite attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said an autopsy revealed the baby, identified as Kaleb McKay, suffered from “numerous injuries” and his death was ruled a homicide.
After a lengthy investigation, police pinpointed the suspects as the boy’s 26-year-old mother Jordan Brownell and her 25-year-old boyfriend Denim Henderson.
Henderson has been charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm. Brownell faces one count of manslaughter.
Police said both are being held for a bail hearing.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Durham Regional Police at 1-888-579-1520 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
