Men’s Clippers look to rebound from early season struggles
In their first year of play, the Kingston Clippers Men's soccer team is hoping for back-to-back wins to propel them up the OCSL standings – Jul 4, 2018

At three wins and six losses, the Kingston Clippers aren’t where they’d like to be in their first year of action in the Premier Division of the Ottawa-Cartleton Soccer League.

“Given our relatively new team, we’re still building on team chemistry, and mistakes we make in the game,” midfielder Joel Zelt said of the Clippers.

Chemistry is key when playing against teams filled with former pros or current CIS and USports athletes.

“Definitely the talent is there,” said coach Christian Hoefler. “At the amateur level, I’d say this is one of the top leagues in the province.”

However, the team has seen some progress on the pitch while winning two of its last four games. The Clippers have two big games this week, both of which their coach believes can be won. Thursday they visit St. Anthony, and are at home to AC Fiorentina at Richardson Stadium on Sunday.

“With the way we’re starting to hit form, I think that’s soon to change,” goalkeeper Alex Jones said, referring to the season’s early struggles. “I think we’ll gradually increase and start going up through the standings.”
