Nova Scotia unveiled its fleet of upgraded helicopters on Tuesday, saying they’ll be used to fight wildfires and complete search and rescue missions in the province.
The province’s natural resources minister, Margaret Miller, was on hand to show off the four new H-125 Airbus helicopters.

“When wildfires happen, we are better prepared,” Miller said.
“Our new … helicopters are more capable than any of our previous helicopters.”

The new helicopters will be able to carry a water bucket that is capable of carrying three times the load as the previous helicopters.
They’re also faster and more fuel efficient, according to the province.
The four helicopters cost the province $20 million, a fee which was offset by the sale of Nova Scotia’s previous fleet.
