Nova Scotia RCMP have identified the victim of Monday’s homicide in Eastern Passage, N.S., as Jamie Lee Bishop.
Due to the Privacy Act, RCMP typically do not identify victims of crime. However, they say there are exceptions and decided to officially release Bishop’s name on Wednesday.
“In certain situations, we can go out with the name of a victim,” said Cpl. Dal Hutchinson.
“In this case here, we’re hoping it will help us with the investigation.”

Police say Bishop, 21, of Lunenburg County, was walking with a female on Hornes Road in Eastern Passage at approximately 12:45 a.m., when a passing car stopped and someone in the vehicle shot Bishop.
It’s believed Bishop then collapsed in a nearby ditch, where he was located by RCMP.
A police officer transported the injured 21-year-old to the nearby Dartmouth General Hospital, where he later died.
Police will not discuss why they believe Bishop was targeted in the drive-by shooting.
“Investigators are pretty confident in stating that it wasn’t a random incident,” Hutchinson told Global News.
There is still no description available of any possible shooter. RCMP say the suspect vehicle is described as a dark, 4-door, Chevrolet car. The vehicle was last seen turning on to Cow Bay Road from Hornes Road.

With no new leads in the case, police are pleading with the public to help them.
“This young man is someone’s son, someone’s family member,” said Hutchinson.
“Someone out there knows what took place on Monday morning and it’s very important for them to do the right thing and contact our investigators with the homicide unit to provide any information they may have. Again, do the right thing and reach out to police and allow us to further this investigation by providing us with your information.”
Anyone with information regarding the homicide of Jamie Lee Bishop is asked to call RCMP at 902-490-5333 or to contact Crime Stoppers.
