Brad Layton was elected the mayor of Telkwa, defeating rival John McDivitt. Layton earned almost 75 per cent of the vote.
Council will consist of Leroy Dekens, Annette Morgan, Rick Fuerst and Matthew Monkman. All four won by acclamation.

History
“Telkwa” is commonly understood to be an Indigenous term that means “meeting of the waters.”
That helps to describe its location at the confluence of the Bulkley and the Telkwa Rivers.
The area’s history stretches back to the establishment of Aldermere, a townsite that was located above the place where Telkwa stands today.
Prospectors stopped there on their way to the Gold Rush and as they followed the Telegraph Trail.
Aldermere would provide the Bulkley Valley with its first post office, hotel, newspaper and general store.
With the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway came an exodus from Aldermere in favour of Telkwa, which was closer to the expected transport and which provided easier access to water.
Telkwa would experience a major fire in 1914 that incinerated most of its downtown buildings, and a number of businesses moved to Smithers.
Some of those buildings, however, remain standing today.
