A contestant on Wheel of Fortune lost his opportunity to win US$7,100 on Monday night after mispronouncing the word “flamenco.”
The contestant named Jonny had a complete answer on the board reading: “Flamenco dance lessons.”
Rather than saying “flamenco dance lessons,” he said, “flamingo dance lessons” referring to the exotic pink bird.

Host Pat Sajak buzzed Jonny for a wrong answer and the sign in front of him read “Bankrupt.”
Jonny looked stunned when Sajak asked another contestant to pronounce the dance and win the US$7,100 that he lost.
“We need to explain what we all heard, and we know you meant to say it, but you gave us a ‘g’ instead of a ‘c’,” Sajak tells Jonny, who was still confused as to why he lost. “But we’ll look at things and make sure we did them correctly.”

Jonny isn’t the only game show contestant to lose out because he used the wrong letter.
In January, a Jeopardy! contestant named Nick lost more than US$3,000 when he called Coolio’s song, Gangster’s Paradise instead of Gangsta’s Paradise.
