Wet roads, speed and driver impairment factors in fatal collision with Hamilton bus: police

Investigators have named drug impairment and poor weather conditions as causal factors in a fatal collision involving an HSR bus over the weekend.

Emergency services were called to the area of Gage Avenue South and Lawrence Road shortly before midnight on Saturday, where a 19-year-old Hamilton man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit has determined that the Nissan involved in the collision was travelling at high speeds in wet conditions and was unable to navigate a curve in the road.

Drug use further compromised the driver’s control, police said.

At the request of family, police will not be releasing the driver’s name.
