Two people have been charged in connection with a pharmacy robbery earlier this week in Woodstock, police said Wednesday.

Woodstock police said officers were called to a business on Norwich Avenue around 4 p.m. Monday for a reported robbery.

Police said a male suspect, carrying a hammer and duffle bag, entered the store and demanded narcotics at the prescription drop off counter.

At the same time, a female suspect stood at the front of the business and kept a lookout, police said.

The pair exited the business and ran to a getaway vehicle, fleeing south on Norwich. Police say the suspects were photographed by two citizens as they ran to their vehicle.

Other police services were given descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle. Hours later, just after midnight, Woodstock police say officers in Durham Region located the two and their vehicle.

A 24-year-old man from Beaverton, Ont., and a 25-year-old woman of undetermined residency were charged with robbery and appeared in court in Woodstock on Tuesday for a bail hearing. Both were held in custody.

Police say the street value of the narcotics recovered in the case is $60,000.
