Twenty Edmonton intersections have received a failing grade because of how congested they can be during peak hours.
A report before the city’s Urban Planning Committee on Tuesday said six per cent of Edmonton arterial road intersections are operating below an acceptable level of service.
Ninety-four per cent of intersections are rated a grade of A through E.
An F rating represents an intersection where delays may be longer than 80 seconds.

Of the 20 intersections to receive a failing grade, nine are located in mature neighbourhoods near the University of Alberta and downtown. Three are located in growth areas and eight need further evaluation to determine why they’re slow.
“Edmonton aims for a C to E rating for most intersections, which is within the acceptable level of service,” the report reads. (Scroll down to read report in full).
