Nearly 30 volunteers from search and rescue groups across the Okanagan are assisting in the search efforts to find a missing 72-year-old man in West Kelowna.
RCMP say Lawrence Hamilton was last spotted on video surveillance as he departed the Lakeview Lodge residential care home at approximately 3 p.m. on Sunday March 25.
He was a visitor at the facility but police have been unable to pinpoint his direction of travel after he left.
“As a result, RCMP are asking all West Kelowna residents and area businesses to review any video surveillance footage they may have from 3 p.m. on, the date of Lawrence’s disappearance,” states Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.
“Police and search volunteers are interested in viewing any images which may assist in determining his last known location and or a direction of travel.”
Police say members of the public can expect to see search and rescue volunteers actively searching through West Kelowna neighbourhoods and into some rural areas.
Authorities have utilized both police service dogs and all-terrain vehicles to conduct ground searches.

Search and Rescue and RCMP are searching for a missing West Kelowna man by air and on the ground.
David Lawrence Hamilton, who goes by Lawrence, was last seen by family on Mar. 25 at about noon. He was reported missing to police on Mar. 27.
Hamilton is an avid hiker and it is not unusual for him to go for long walks.
Police are concerned for Hamilton’s well-being as he suffers from a medical condition which requires regular medication.
Surveillance video shows Hamilton was on Butt Road around 3:00 on the day he disappeared.
Hamilton is six-feet-one-inch tall and has grey hair and hazel eyes.
He was last seen wearing a dark blue puffy jacket, blue jeans, and a scarf and gloves.
