The relocation of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame to Tim Hortons Field is expected to be complete by the start of the 2018 CFL season.
The “touchdown” statue that stood in front of the hall’s former location beside city hall will be relocated to the stadium and Hall of Fame busts will be installed on the concourse.
There will also be artifacts on display and digital exhibits at Tim Hortons Field.
Greg Maychak, manager of special projects for the City of Hamilton, says it “will be a great addition to Tim Hortons Field where the public and fans will be able to once again celebrate the proud history, teams and players who have made Canadian Football.”
Coun. Jason Farr adds that the stadium is the place where the hall of fame “really belongs” and he’s pleased that a report presented to Hamilton politicians on Wednesday talks about “opening up Wednesday nights, Saturday mornings to the public.”
The city and CFL are each making a one-time contribution of $250,000 towards the relocation.
