Tuesday might be the first official day of spring, but Old Man Winter doesn’t appear ready to release Metro Vancouver from his icy claws just yet.
Snow is potentially back in the forecast this week.
Global BC Meteorologist Mark Madryga says a cold airmass from the Gulf of Alaska is expected to hit the South Coast between Thursday and Saturday, bringing with it a showery, chilly weather pattern.

By Thursday, Madryga says the freezing level will fall to just a few hundred metres above sea level, particularly during the night-time hours.
“Wet snow, or at least a mixture of rain and snow will likely fall at some higher elevations , including some higher urban areas of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley,” said Madryga.
“Amounts in the order of at least a few centimetres are possible.”
The blast of winter weather comes nearly a month after Metro Vancouver was surprised with another late season snowfall. Some parts of the region were blanketed with up to 20 centimetres of snow then, causing commuter chaos and forcing the closure of a number of schools.
However there are plenty of signs that spring really is here.
Cherry blossoms have begun to appear in many areas of Vancouver, and just last week the region recorded record warm temperatures, with the mercury topping out at 20.3 degrees Celsius in White Rock last Monday.
