Hardy reportedly “ran off the roadway to the right, in turn striking about 105 feet (32 meters) of guardrail before the back end of the car spun out 90 degrees to the left, coming to rest in the middle of the right N (north) bound lane of travel.”

The vehicle, a 2016 Cadillac CTS-V, was not driveable after the accident.

The police report states that Hardy did an estimated US$8,000 worth of damage to the car and US$5,000 worth of damage to the guardrail.

The 40-year-old wrestler was booked for Driving While Intoxicated and will stand trial in April.

TMZ reports that police issued a breathalyzer test, which came back at .25 — more than three times the legal limit of .08 per cent in North Carolina.

The WWE issued a statement following Hardy’s arrest, saying, “Jeff Hardy is responsible for his own personal actions. We are investigating the matter and awaiting information from local law enforcement officials.”

Hardy has been off WWE television since last September while he recovered from a shoulder injury, suffering a torn rotator cuff and labrum.

He had just been cleared by his surgeon to return to the WWE following the shoulder injury.
