Three boys are facing weapons and assault charges in Belleville. Police were called to Sinclair Street, in the central part of the city, just after 9 p.m. Thursday.
Investigators say two boys had confronted two other boys with a knife and a handgun.
Officers set up a containment area and arrested a 12-year-old boy along with two 13-year-old boys a short time later. The two older boys are charged with assault and assault with a weapon.
They were released into the custody of their parents and will be in Youth Court later this month.
The 12-year-old is charged with assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous. He was held for a bail hearing on Friday.
The Youth Criminal Justice Act prevents the release of the boys’ names. Police say the weapons were not recovered and no one was hurt.
