Saskatoon police say officers had to Taser one of two men arrested after an assault in the Riversdale neighbourhood.

A report that two people were being assaulted at a home in the 400-block of Avenue C South was received by police at around 3:30 a.m. CT on Wednesday.

Responding officers found two men nearby. A 39-year-old man was arrested without incident.

Police said a second man, 35, was “confrontational” and “combative” with officers.

A Taser was fired and the man was taken into custody. He was assessed by paramedics at the scene before being placed in detention.

Two other men, 47 and 55, were found suffering from non-life-threatening injuries at the home.

Police believe they found a bat that was used in the assault.

Both of the accused are facing charges of assault with a weapon and uttering threats.

The 35-year-old man is also charged with assaulting a peace officer and breach of undertaking.
