A possible stabbing on Mount Seymour Thursday morning has closed Dog Mountain Trail.
Heavily armed police officers were seen heading up the trail around 7:30 a.m. The mountain is now open to the public but the trail is still being contained by police.
North Shore Rescue (NSR) was also called to the scene.
Team leader Mike Danks tells Global News this call originally came in as an injury call but then changed to a stabbing.
Peter Haigh with NSR says they were alerted at 5:15 a.m. by RCMP about an injured camper in the park.
When they got there they were told to stand down as one of the injured people was known to police.
That’s when the Emergency Response Team was called to the park.
NSR team members helped take out the injured person but a few hours later RCMP received another 911 call from an injured man.
That man was also taken out by NSR and taken to hospital.
It appears both men, who Haigh described as campers, suffered stab wounds. It is now known they were camping near the trail.
North Vancouver RCMP confirmed that both men suffered what appear to be “knife wounds” in the incident.
It is not known what led to the incident but police say the men are known to each other. There is no risk to the public.
Both men are in their 30s and from the Lower Mainland.
The investigation is fluid and ongoing.
